AFFIRMATIVE PRAYER

What does New Thought teach about prayer?
New Thought teaches that we live in a responsive, loving, spiritual universe and that prayer produces definite results. It is a practical means of healing, of restoring harmony and balance to life, as well as of expressing joy and gratitude. The practice of prayer builds our faith in the goodness of life and opens us to a continual awareness of life.

What is a Prayer Practitioner?
The Practitioner is a person of high spiritual consciousness and deep understanding of New Thought principles. They have undergone extensive training in affirmative prayer and an internship. The Practitioner is dedicated to helping others and is bound by a high code of ethics to respect your confidence.

Must I be present for prayer to work?
No, prayers are just as effective if your Practitioner is in your presence, on the phone, or on the other side of the globe. There is only One Mind, and that Mind is everywhere present. It is into this Mind that prayers are given.

Can I pray for myself?
Most certainly. The following words are a simple prayer that will raise your consciousness and your level of acceptance: There is One Universal Life, and I am unified with it. I declare that within this Divine Life is contained all I need for a healthy, happy, prosperous life. I accept this good gladly, and with deep gratitude I give thanks to God. I release it to the Law which says, it is done, as I believe. And so it is.

Do I need a Practitioner? Ask yourself:
Am I too close to my problem to see the situation clearly?
Do I feel that something is blocking that which I am seeking?
Do I feel that I lack the experience with, the training in, or the understanding of the principles necessary to resolve the difficulty?

What can I expect?
Your Practitioner is not a counselor and does not give advice. However, he or she may ask questions to help you see your situation in a light centered in Truth. The primary role of the Practitioner is to bring clarity to a situation so that a realization of Truth can take place. You will begin your time with your Practitioner by agreeing to know together: God is the center of all and, in fact, is all.

The Four-Steps for Affirmative Prayer

1. Acknowledge
"I know there is one Infinite Intelligence..."
There is one infinite, all-inclusive, creative, living Intelligence behind the universe.

2. Align
"I am one with the power and nature of God..."
Our essential nature is spiritual.

3. Affirm
"Therefore, I know that the perfect (health, relationship, prosperity, career, opportunity, etc.) exists now for me..."
We have a creative relationship with our experience of life.

4. Acceptance
"I accept this perfection with thanksgiving..."
We are all on a spiritual journey back to the source of our being.
